Welcome to The Chunky Jeweller, my name is Jan (South African) and along with my wife Colinda and son Zander, we own and operate the store, with just over 60 years experience in the jewellery manufacturing and repair business between us, no task is either to big or too small. We honestly try to accommodate every customer that comes into the store, even if you live outside of Hamilton, we arrange our courier to collect so that your precious jewels are in the safest hands and covered by our insurance up to $2000.00.
So it doesn't matter where you are in New Zealand, we can help you out with all your jewellery requirements, big or small.

We couldn't be happier with the custom ring created by Jan & family. They took the time to truly understand my vision, offering expert advise which was even better. 😊
The craftsmanship is absolutely stunning. The stones (which carries memories for me) provided to make this unique ring - every detail from setting to the finish - flawless. The ring feels solid, beautifully balanced and comfortable to wear. It's not just a piece of jewellery - it's something meaningful that I'll treasure forever.
It's uniqueness, the experience and the final result are truly worth it.

So grateful to these folk. I was travelling through Hamilton and accidentally broke a special bracelet in two. Jan was wonderfully helpful and managed to get it all back together and fixed overnight so that I could safely wear it again the next day. Did an excellent job and went above and beyond giving the bracelet a good clean and polish. The cost was very reasonable. They also have a fabulous range of one off designed pieces on display.
