“if you booked direct with us, we would help you solve this” We have not even arrived at Bodmin Jail Hotel yet (and now will not be arriving) because of how this has been handled. I have never written a review before a stay has even happened, but this experience has left us with little choice. We booked a March 2026 stay through a third-party partner of Expedia and immediately noticed the booking showed one guest instead of two. We called the hotel straight away and were told we had to contact the partner company, who only communicate by email and have ignored every message we have sent. In desperation we emailed the hotel and called again the next day. Reservations agreed to help and explained they just needed a manager to confirm the additional guest fee, which gave us real hope this simple issue would be resolved. Instead, we received a cold email the following day saying there was nothing they could do. No apology, no empathy, and no attempt to find a solution. After that email we called again to explain that this was now a case of either the issue being resolved or us cancelling the booking, and there still seemed to be no interest in helping. This was meant to be a birthday weekend and we planned to use the restaurant during our stay. It is incredibly disappointing that the hotel appeared willing to lose the entire booking rather than show flexibility or understanding over a very small request. DO BETTER!

An amazing place to stay, full of atmosphere. Really well appointed but keeps it's traditional feel. Rooms are spacious, with three cells being turned into one room. All the features remain, with small barred windows and open brickwork so you never actually forget where you are. There are little notices around the Hotel, including your room, that tells you interesting things about the Jails past and what happened at certain places. The staff are really helpful and very pleasant. The food in the Restaurant is amazing and really well presented.
