We were charged £1,140 for a pipe repair that was completed in approximately 45 minutes. Even taking into account the trace and access work carried out beforehand, we believe the final charge was excessive and unjustified having now spoken to several plumbers.
We have since contacted the company requesting a breakdown and explanation of the pricing but have received no response. The lack of communication and transparency is disappointing.
As things stand, we are considering legal action if the company continues to ignore our attempts to resolve the matter directly.
Based on our experience we would not recommend this company. These are the worst tradespeople we ever had to deal with.
EDIT- in response to below message;
This is the first response we have received despite emailing twice over the past two weeks. It is disappointing that a public review received a response immediately, whereas our direct attempts to resolve the matter were ignored.
Our concern here is the lack of transparency surrounding the entire process and why we were charged that amount. By the time the higher price was presented, a hole had already been cut into the wall and we were in no realistic position to seek an alternative. We were told the job was more difficult than expected, which led us to believe substantially more work would be required, yet the pipe repair itself was completed in approximately 45 minutes (we have ring camera footage on this).
You state that we were sent an invoice with all details of the work. The invoice we received contained only two brief line items, several errors, and no meaningful breakdown explaining how £550 was charged for the pipe repair. Despite requesting clarification, none has been provided.
Given the lack of communication, transparency and the conflicting account of events, we will now be pursuing this matter through the Small Claims Court unless a satisfactory response and detailed breakdown are provided.
