Let’s talk about locks. We get a lot of customers calling to ask which locks are the safest, what they should install at their home or business and which brands we recommend.
Here are a few facts we think you should consider when changing or installing locks:
-virtually every lock is able to be broken into at some point; the idea is to make it take an intruder a long time or make a lot of noise so they won’t succeed in breaking in
-to make your home more secure, we strongly recommend adding a deadbolt to your door- two locks are always better than one
-electronic keypad deadbolts are even better, and usually include both a lock and a keypad on the deadbolt
-if you’re wanting to up your home security, camera systems like nest are a great option so you can also see who is at your door
-common lock brands we use include Schlage, Kwikset and Yale. Depending on your situation and the aesthetic you’re looking for, any of these brands can be excellent options
