Here are some tips to prevent locking yourself out of your car:
1. Use a key fob to lock the car door. If your car does not have a key fob, get into the habit of locking the door only using the key on the outside of the car, NOT using the key lock inside the car.
2. Keep a spare key in your wallet. If you want to be extra cautious, get another spare made and keep it at home or in the hands of a trusted individual.

The best advice is to not be distracted when locking you car, double and triple check that the keys are outside of the car before you lock.
