Creating relevant ads is a keystone for a successful campaign. These best practises will help you reach the right audiences and match more queries:

  • Combine broad match with responsive search ads to enable the AI-powered system to adapt your ad to the search query, allowing you to compete in a wider variety of relevant auctions and match more queries.
  • Collaborate with Google AI tools, like automatically created assets and conversational experience in Google Ads, to create many relevant headlines and descriptions for the system to test the optimal combination and deliver more relevant ads.
  • Maximise ad relevance to keywords by using Ad Strength and organise keywords into tightly themed ad groups.

Utilise Google AI tools

Opting-in to automatically created assets at the campaign level will allow you to leverage Google’s AI to generate additional headlines and descriptions to be used in combination with the assets you input for responsive search ads. These new assets are generated based on your ad’s unique context, which includes your landing page, existing ads, and keywords in your ad group. Maximise Ad Relevance using Ad Strength

Ad Strength provides you with feedback to help you understand where you can make improvements before your ads are served, and its keyword relevance category can be used to understand how relevant your ads are to keywords in your ad group. If you find that it’s difficult to improve this Ad Strength category due to the breadth of keywords in your ad group - consider splitting the ad group into more tightly themed ad groups to maintain creative relevance. Tools like conversational experience in Google Ads can help you improve Ad Strength.

Strive to have at least one responsive search ad with Good or Excellent Ad Strength per ad group.
